PROJECT HISTORY MUSIPARIAN 2022 & 2023

INTRODUCTION

MUSIPARIAN 2022 & 2024

Efforts to clean up the Musi River and its surrounding areas, including Talang Putri District, have become a primary focus for the local community and government. Uncontrolled growth of water hyacinth has clogged the river flow, while plastic waste accumulates along the banks. This situation not only disrupts the natural beauty but also threatens the river ecosystem's sustainability. Through collaboration between community groups, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations, joint efforts are being made to remove water hyacinth from the river and reduce the amount of plastic waste carried by the current.

Preventive measures include environmental awareness campaigns, improved waste management, and innovative methods for controlling water hyacinth. Modern cleaning equipment and an integrated waste management system are also being implemented. The goal is to restore the Musi River to a clean, sustainable environment.

PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional Refinery Unit III, along with youth groups “Ankubas” and “Gendis Florist,” are working to reduce plastic waste and control water hyacinth pollution. This collaboration aims to significantly improve the river’s cleanliness and ecosystem, while turning waste into economically valuable materials and supporting community activities.

ACTIVITIES

TRAINING IN MAKING FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS

The training process for making flower boards from plastic waste starts with river clean-up activities by the local community and PT KPI RU III team. They collect and sort the plastic waste, then process it into materials for flower boards using safe recycling technology.

SEWING TRAINING

Collected water hyacinth is also processed into materials for pillows and dolls. The local community participates in this process, which includes selecting, cleaning, and drying the hyacinth.

ANKUBAS & GENDIST FLORIST

After processing, flower boards, pillows, and dolls made from plastic waste and water hyacinth are produced. These products are then distributed back to the local community or sold as recycled products to consumers.
